Earth Speaks, Earth Listens: A Musical Tribute
Earth Speaks, Earth Listens: A Musical Tribute to Our Planet & Children
In music there is a force so powerful that can awaken even the most dormant of souls. Likewise, in nature there are forces so mysterious and powerful that can awaken and nourish the mind, the body and the soul. Yet, as we stand today, nature stands to be exploited by the very individuals and planet it nourishes. Cities are centres of better lifestyles and community, yet they are also guilty of widening the gap between people and nature.
“The poetry of the earth is never dead.” (John Keats)
Join us for a special concert with 4 talented musicians from China Gansu province , South Africa and Peru respectively, where we aim to showcase the combined power of music and nature to reconnect all of us with nature, with each other, and reconnect our lives to a higher moral, environmental and spiritual purpose.
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” (Viktor Frankl, in Man’s Search for Meaning)
We aim to turn this event into an opportunity to take action and support those that need our support. Proceeds from the event will go towards covering the event logistics costs and buying necessary supplies for underprivileged children residing in the hills of Peru where Ricardo Meza, our lead musician, hails from.
About the Musicians
Natali Deftereos is a Shanghai-based creative originally from South Africa. Two and a half years ago she experienced a spiritual awakening and has since deeply explored through personal experience and investigation, multiple healing modalities in her quest to understand what causes us to be disconnected from ourselves and the universal consciousness, what triggers us and how to reach a state of harmony and equilibrium internally and with our surroundings. She has enormous respect for Mother Nature, ancient wisdom, teachings and healers but is also a big believer in the wisdom of the body, listening to your inner guidance and that there are multiple paths to the truth.
In 2016 Bone Lhamo Kyap worked with Grammy recognized producer Michael Starita to record and produce his new singles Mother Earth is Crying and This Pitiful Life at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California, USA. His film and soundtrack “When Mother Earth Cries” is due to be released in 2019. Since 2016, Bone's performances have also been increasingly popular at Yoga studios and Yoga events.
Kirsten Lee Olsen's work on the planet bridges the gap between the corporate and spiritual worlds because at a higher level there is no difference. Music is a tool in her spiritual tool kit. She began studying music as a child, but did not awaken to the spiritual application of music until 2016 while on a 6 month sabbatical in Costa Rica, during which she began to learn guitar. In addition to music, Kirsten is a formally trained theater actress and director in the Stanislavski tradition and holds an MBA in Supply Chain & Operations Management.
Dave Stone is one of Australia’s most dynamic and progressive Aussie Blues & Roots artists. As an accomplished singer, songwriter and crafted guitarist, he has toured extensively both in Australia and overseas. His signature guitar work, insightful original songs, and unique slide guitar skills have delighted audiences from Sydney to Shanghai. He first came to the attention of music-lovers, audiences and international venues through his first album ‘Money Breeds Flies’ - a soulful collection of original songs, featuring the melodic, award-winning track “Simple Life”.
Born in the small town of Taree, Dave grew up influenced by the story-telling power of Australian country blues and folk rock. He has remained true to his roots, but has injected his unique style to create his own powerful blend of lyrics and guitar skills that now captivates both local and international audiences.
